WHAT WE TAKE
If it doesn't belong, it's gone.
If two of our crew members can lift it and it isn't hazardous, SP Construction can almost certainly haul it away. From a single sofa in Boca Raton to a post-storm cleanup in Parkland, our uniformed, background-checked crews serve Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Coral Springs, Margate, and Parkland — with same-day and next-day appointments, subject to availability.
Below is the complete A to Z of what we take, organized by category. After that, you'll find the short list of hazardous items we're not permitted to transport — along with the exact Palm Beach County and Broward County facilities where residents can drop those off, in most cases at no charge.
Every job starts with a free, no-obligation quote and upfront, volume-based pricing confirmed before we start. Whatever we can donate, we donate; whatever we can recycle, we recycle. Licensed & insured.
Furniture
- Armoires & wardrobes
- Bed frames & headboards
- Bookcases
- China cabinets & hutches
- Coffee & end tables
- Couches & sectionals
- Dining tables & chairs
- Dressers & nightstands
- Entertainment centers
- Futon frames
- Ottomans & benches
- Patio & outdoor furniture
- Pianos & organs
- Recliners
- TV stands
Clean, usable pieces are our most-donated items — they go to local charity partners before anything reaches a landfill. Our uniformed, background-checked crews pad doorways and protect floors on the way out, whether it's a single recliner or a full-home clearout, and heavy specialty pieces like pianos are welcome. See our furniture removal service.
Appliances
- Dishwashers
- Dryers
- Freezers
- Garbage disposals
- Ice makers
- Microwaves
- Ovens, ranges & stoves
- Refrigerators
- Washing machines
- Water heaters
- Window air conditioners
- Wine coolers
We handle the heavy lifting and the compliance: refrigerant-bearing units like refrigerators and window AC units are processed in line with EPA refrigerant-recovery requirements, and scrap metal goes to recyclers. Please have gas, water, and electrical connections professionally disconnected before your appointment — our crews haul, they don't unhook utilities. See our appliance removal service.
Electronics & e-waste
- Cables & cords
- Computers & laptops
- Copiers
- DVD & Blu-ray players
- Gaming consoles
- Monitors
- Printers & scanners
- Speakers & stereo equipment
- Tablets
- Televisions (including CRTs and projection TVs)
Televisions, computers, and other e-waste never belong in the regular trash. We route electronics to recycling partners so metals and plastics are recovered responsibly. For computers, drives, and phones, wipe or remove personal data before pickup — safeguarding your data is your responsibility, and we recommend doing it before we arrive.
Mattresses & bedding
- Adjustable bases
- Box springs
- Bunk bed mattresses
- Crib mattresses
- Futon mattresses
- King, queen, full & twin mattresses
- Memory-foam toppers
- Sleeper-sofa pullout mattresses
Mattresses are bulky, awkward, and unwelcome at the curb in most neighborhoods. We carry them out from any bedroom — including upstairs — bag them for hygienic transport, and recycle steel springs, foam, and fiber where facilities allow. Box springs, adjustable bases, and toppers ride along in the same load. See our mattress removal service.
Yard & storm debris
- Bagged leaves & clippings
- Branches & limbs
- Detached fencing (wood, vinyl, chain-link)
- Firewood
- Hedge & shrub trimmings
- Palm fronds
- Planters & pots
- Sod (small quantities)
- Storm-scattered debris
- Swing sets & playsets (we disassemble)
From routine palm-frond and hedge trimmings to the aftermath of a summer storm, we load and haul vegetation, detached fencing, and scattered debris fast. During hurricane season we add crews for storm cleanup across all five cities, with same-day and next-day appointments, subject to availability. See our yard & storm debris service.
Construction & renovation debris
- Baseboards & trim
- Bathtubs & shower stalls (removed)
- Bricks & pavers
- Cabinetry & countertops
- Carpet & padding (pulled)
- Concrete (small quantities)
- Doors & windows (removed)
- Drywall scraps
- Flooring & tile (pulled)
- Lumber (nails fine)
- Plumbing fixtures
- Sinks & toilets
- Wire shelving
We haul what your renovation leaves behind — already-detached drywall, tile, cabinetry, and fixtures — with volume-based pricing confirmed before loading begins. One caution: if your project predates the 1980s, have suspect popcorn ceilings or old floor tiles tested for asbestos first; we cannot transport asbestos-suspect material. See our construction debris removal.
Hot tubs & spas
- Above-ground hot tubs
- Above-ground pool components (drained)
- Jacuzzi shells
- Pool pumps & filters (chemical-free)
- Spa covers & steps
- Swim spas
A spa removal starts with safety: have a licensed electrician disconnect power before we arrive. From there, our crew sections the shell into manageable pieces, hauls away every fragment along with the cover and equipment, and leaves the pad swept clean — most removals wrap up the same visit. See our hot tub removal service.
Exercise equipment
- Basketball hoops (freestanding)
- Ellipticals
- Exercise & spin bikes
- Free weights & dumbbells
- Home gym systems
- Massage chairs
- Rowing machines
- Trampolines
- Treadmills
- Weight benches & racks
Treadmills and home gyms are among the heaviest items in any house — and often bolted, cabled, or wedged into an upstairs room. We disassemble what needs disassembling, protect stairwells and walls on the way down, and donate working equipment whenever a local charity partner can use it.
Office & commercial
- Breakroom appliances
- Conference tables
- Cubicle partitions & workstations
- Filing cabinets
- Office desks & chairs
- Copiers & printers
- Retail fixtures & shelving
- Storage unit cleanout contents
- Warehouse pallets & racking
For offices, retail spaces, storage facilities, and property managers, we schedule around business hours — early, late, or weekends — and clear everything from a single workstation to a full suite. Licensed and insured, with a certificate of insurance available for your building management on request. See our commercial junk removal.
Household clutter & everything else
- Bicycles
- Books & magazines
- Boxes & packing material
- Clothing & textiles
- Garage cleanout contents
- Grills (propane tank removed)
- Holiday decorations
- Lawn mowers & trimmers (fluids drained)
- Luggage
- Rugs
- Tires (passenger, limited quantities)
- Toys
The catch-all category: if two crew members can lift it and it isn't hazardous, we can almost certainly take it. Gas-powered equipment must be drained of fuel and oil first, and grills travel without their propane tanks — see below for where cylinders and fuels go. Estate and heavy-clutter cleanouts are handled discreetly. See our full-service junk removal.
THE HONEST LIST
What we can't take — and where it can go
Paint, stains & solvents
Liquid paint and solvents can't legally ride in our trucks. Boca Raton and Boynton Beach residents can drop them free at a Solid Waste Authority Home Chemical & Recycling Center — the closest is the South County Transfer Station, 1901 SW 4th Ave., Delray Beach. Margate and Parkland residents use Broward County's Household Hazardous Waste drop-off centers, open Saturdays 9 a.m.–3 p.m. (nearest: 2780 N. Powerline Rd., Pompano Beach; bring proof of residency). Coral Springs runs its own drop-off at the city Waste Transfer Station, 12600 Wiles Rd., the first full weekend of each month.
Gasoline, motor oil & automotive fluids
Fuels and fluids are fire and spill hazards in a loaded truck. All three programs above accept them: SWA Home Chemical & Recycling Centers for Palm Beach County residents, Broward County's Saturday drop-off centers for Margate and Parkland, and the monthly Wiles Road drop-off for Coral Springs. Many auto parts retailers also take back used motor oil.
Pesticides, fertilizers & pool chemicals
Garden and pool chemicals can react dangerously when mixed with other debris in a truck. Take them to your county household hazardous waste program — free for residents at SWA Home Chemical & Recycling Centers in Palm Beach County, at Broward County's drop-off centers for Margate and Parkland, and at Coral Springs' monthly Wiles Road event.
Propane tanks & fuel cylinders
Pressurized cylinders can rupture when a load is compacted. SWA Home Chemical & Recycling Centers (Palm Beach County) and Broward County's HHW drop-offs accept them, and many propane retailers exchange or take back empty tanks. We'll gladly haul the grill itself — just set the tank aside.
Car batteries & loose lithium batteries
Lithium cells are a leading cause of truck and facility fires. County HHW programs in both Palm Beach and Broward accept all battery types; most auto parts retailers take vehicle batteries, and many home-improvement stores host rechargeable-battery recycling bins.
Asbestos-suspect material
Popcorn ceilings, 9x9 floor tiles, and pipe insulation in pre-1980s homes may contain asbestos, which no junk removal service can legally transport. Have suspect material tested and, if positive, removed by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor, who will arrange compliant disposal with the county.
Ammunition, fireworks & explosives
Never safe in a compacting truck. Broward County's HHW drop-off centers list ammunition among accepted items for participating cities like Margate and Parkland; elsewhere, call your police department's non-emergency line for safe surrender guidance before moving anything.
Medical waste, sharps & medications
Needles and pharmaceuticals need sealed, tracked disposal that a junk truck can't provide. Ask your pharmacy about approved sharps containers and medication take-back kiosks — many chain pharmacy locations across Palm Beach and Broward counties host them year-round.
Fluorescent tubes & CFL bulbs
They contain mercury and shatter easily in transit. SWA Home Chemical & Recycling Centers and Broward County's HHW drop-offs accept them free from residents, and some home-improvement retailers collect CFLs at the store.
Unlabeled drums & unknown chemicals
If nobody knows what's inside, nobody should be hauling it. County hazardous waste staff can identify and safely process unknowns — bring sealed containers to your county HHW facility, or call the SWA (Palm Beach County) or Broward County Solid Waste for guidance first.
Frequently asked questions
Can't find your answer? Ask us directly — we respond fast.
What do junk removal companies take?
Most junk removal companies, including SP Construction, take any non-hazardous item two crew members can lift: furniture, appliances, mattresses, electronics, exercise equipment, hot tubs, yard debris and renovation debris. What they can't take is hazardous material — paint, chemicals, fuels and asbestos — which goes to county drop-off facilities instead.
How fast can you get here?
We offer same-day and next-day appointments, subject to availability. You'll get a scheduled arrival window, and the crew confirms your exact price on arrival — before any loading begins.
How do you price a job?
By volume — how much space your items fill in the truck. You get a free, no-obligation quote, and the final price is confirmed upfront before we start. No hidden fees, and nothing changes after loading.
Do I have to carry anything to the curb?
No. Point, and it's gone. Our uniformed, background-checked crews remove items from wherever they sit — attics, garages, backyards, upstairs bedrooms — and sweep up before they leave.
What happens to my items after you leave?
Donation first: usable furniture, appliances, and equipment go to local donation partners. Metals, electronics, and mattress components are routed to recyclers. Only what can't be reused or recycled goes to disposal.
My city offers bulk trash pickup — why hire you?
Curbside bulk collection runs on fixed schedules, limits what and how much it takes, and requires you to haul everything to the curb yourself. We work on your schedule, do all the lifting from inside the home, take mixed loads city programs won't, and sort everything for donation and recycling.
Do you also rent dumpsters?
Yes — we deliver roll-off dumpsters in Boca Raton, Margate, and Parkland for DIY cleanouts and longer renovations. And in all five cities we serve, our full-service crews can simply load everything for you, which is often the faster option.
I'm not sure whether my item is hazardous. What should I do?
Text us a photo. We'll tell you on the spot whether it can go on the truck — and if it can't, we'll point you to the correct Palm Beach County or Broward County facility so nothing gets left behind.
